Swimmer Arm Marking for Swim Meets

Before each swim meet, swimmers should arrive with their event information written on their arm using a Sharpie or non-toxic marker. This helps swimmers, Parent Shepherds, Ready Bench volunteers, and coaches quickly identify when and where a swimmer needs to report for their race.

Check-in sheets will not have heat and lane because they change after teams submit their scratches. For heat and lane info, you will have to wait until the meet is published on Time Drop or Meet Mobile.

Example of Arm Marking:

Please also write your child's full name above the events.

Tips:

  • Write on clean, dry skin before applying sunscreen.
  • Use the swimmer's heat sheet or SwimTopia Mobile to find event information.
  • Write clearly and legibly.
  • Relay information will be provided by coaches or Parent Shepherds if needed.

Relay Marking

This will designate the relay leg the child is swimming.

  • 1/1 = Lane 1, first relay leg
  • 4/2 = Lane 4, 2nd relay leg **If the Medley Relay this will be Breast Stroke

Stroke (Optional)

If you'd like to note the stroke do so after the lane designation. It can be difficult to fit legibly on smaller arms, though.

  • FR = Freestyle
  • BA = Back Stroke
  • BR = Breast Stroke
  • FLY = Butterfly
  • IM = Individual Medley
  • FRR = Free Relay (All swimmers swim freestyle)
  • For Medley Relay put the actual stroke (each swimmer swims a different stroke: 1st = back, 2nd=breast, 3rd=fly, 4th=free)
